  1. Excellent articles...very impressed by the newer generation of Hindustani Classical musicians like Ms Sanhita Nandi, Dr Prasad Jogalekar and others who are the torchbearers of the rich Indian traditional music. Keep it up. Indranil Chakraborty MD. Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.

  3. I am listening Vidhushi Sanhita Nandy for more than six years. Such a beautiful singer is rare. I have posted her youtube clips in my timeline and in various musical groups. Her Vocals were accepted widely every time. I like and respect her Gurus Late Pandit A Kanan ji and Pt Vinayak Torvi ji who are Legends. I get essence of both the Gurus in her music but she has developed her own style and I appreciate this. It made Sanhita ji Unique. I respect her devotion in Music. Wish her all the best.

  6. Sanhita Ji's thoughts and approach on Hindustani classical music has been written so beautifully and precisely in this article. Going through every part of the article is like listening to Sanhita jis teachings all over again. Words can't explain how blessed I have been to learn music from my Guru Vidhushi Sanhita Nandi . She is my role model , as a person as well as a musician. Her sincerity , discipline and love for her music is what makes me fall in love with her and worship her as my Guru! With her, learning music is an overall experience of connecting to inner self . She has shown the philosophical and spiritual side of Hindustani classical music. Music is also a tool to influence our thoughts on people , especially the Kirana gharana style of music that she is teaching needs lot of patience as a person to perform and also one need to shed their ego to be able to sing every Sur in the most embellished and intricate way like she sings. Soulful essence of her music is unachievable with just vocal riyaz . She says , one has to shed all their ego, pray sincerely to maa sarawathi and beg each and every Sur to be kind and bestow it's blessing on us . Whenever I face bad days of my riyaz , like a mother she uplifts my ambitions and says music is like a one sided love, and the student has to earn that love from music by doing sincere riyaz everyday. The vast topics that I get to learn from her are endless , be it intimacy with music, loving every Sur , how music can be a medium of discovering and exploring ones strength, music being a personal companion for life, raga Swaras, expressing ones thoughts through music and so much.. all of this is a treasure she is passing on to her desciples ! Even after so many achievements in music, accolades and appreciations from the Pandiths and Ustads , she is very humble , kind and egoless . She always looks at herself as a learner and strives to give good soulful music to the world!

  8. Sanhita Nandi is a miracle - her voice is acrobatic and supple, moving with seeming ease and expressive eloquence through musical challenges that would stymie even the most accomplished western vocal artist. More than this, her deep convictions - musical and otherwise - find such powerful expression in her voice, that, it opens the world of her tradition even to those wholly unfamiliar with it. She is a personification of the notion of music being the "universal" language.

  9. Extremely good & valuable attempt by Sangeet Vikas Sabha ! It is equally important to document & discuss all the informations about music along with learning , riwaaz & performances to preserve our ancient heritage . I hope SVS will certainly play an important role in this context .

  10. Being a classical tabla player for over 70 years played hundreds of programs with top ranking musicians but the feel and the total silence between the beats in athi vilambit jhoomra in dhed matra which i experienced with vishushi sanhitaji is something which can not be expressed in words. one has to experience and live in it and feel the bliss. keep up the good purity and stand different from other musicians and keep it alive for generation to come.........PM

  12. Whatever the connoisseurs world over have expressed about Kirana Gharana Exponent Ms.Sanhita Nandi is absolutely true, indicative of the rich legacy she's inherited through her peers by rigorous Riyaz over years, to reach a certain level of composure very rarely witnessed. Remarkable Gayaki ang and tehrav mark her authority in all the compositions so divinely presented, not handing out an iota of doubt in the minds of connoisseurs about her worth that's so tirelessly honed assiduously
